AIR CONDITIONING AND VENTILATION ON BOARD THE LINER < WIND STAR > ARE DESCRIBED. COMFORT AND ENERGY SAVINGS WERE THE PRIMARY CONCERNS. THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS ARE 100% NEW, WITH TOTAL HEAT RECOVERY. THE OPERATING PRINCIPLE OF RECOVERY HEAT EXCHANGERS IS EXPLAINED AND THEIR ADVANTAGES ARE SHOWN IN A HUMID AIR CHART. THE USE OF BAFFLED SILENCERS HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEMS OF NOISE LEVELS. THE VENTILATION OF THE MACHINE AND AUXILIARY ROOMS AND THE AIR CONDITIONING OF THE CONTROL ROOM ARE OUTLINED, AS ALSO THE CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH THE PROJECT WAS REALIZED. J.L.
