Summary

THE MAEBASHI GREEN DOME IS A MULTIPURPOSE, MULTIFUNCTIONAL EVENT HALL. ITS ARENA-TYPE SPACE IS COVERED BY A LARGE ROOF, TO WHICH THE ARCH PRINCIPLE WAS APPLIED TO FORM A 122 X 176 M BEAM STRING STRUCTURE. ITS AIR CONDITIONING WAS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE YEAR-ROUND INDOOR COMFORT FOR THE ARENA AND THE SPECTATORS. STUDIES WERE CONDUCTED ON AN EVALUATION SYSTEM BASED ON A COMBINATION OF FACTORS SUCH AS TEMPERATURE, HUMIDITY, AIR FLOW AND MEAN-RADIANT TEMPERATURE WITH THE ACTIVITY LEVEL AND CLOTHING INDEXES OF THE OCCUPANTS.
