Air conditioning systems with air distribution at low temperature.

Author(s) : SERRATTO A.

Summary

The possibility is investigated of using air at 5.5 deg C in a centralized all-air air-conditioning system with variable air volume, partial recirculation and reheating. This system requires a two-stage air cooler, with water for the high-temperature stage and an antifreeze liquid at 4 deg C for the low-temperature stage, as well as a suitable mixing terminal for increasing the temperature of the air distributed into the conditioned space. According the author's analysis, the running cost of this system is slightly lower than that of a traditional one, due to the energy saved in fan operation, while the first cost is equivalent; the main advantage is the lower size of the air ducts.
