Summary

A DETAILED ACCOUNT OF THE REFRIGERATION INSTALLATION AND AIR CONDITIONING OF THE VARIOUS DECK LEVELS OF THIS 400 PASSENGER LEISURE VESSEL. SINCE THE MAXIMUM PASSENGER AND WORKING SPACE NEEDS HAD TO BE PROVIDED AND SINCE THE VESSEL WAS DESIGNED FOR HIGH OCCUPANCY OVER BRIEF PERIODS, LOCATIONS FOR THE AIR CONDITIONING UNITS REQUIRED CAREFUL STUDY. THE COMPLETE INSTALLATION INCLUDES TWO 33 KILOWATT UNITS FOR EACH OF THE UPPER AND MAIN DECKS, SERVING PORT AND STARBOARD ZONES, A 23 KILOWATT FRESH AIR TEMPERING UNIT FOR THE UPPER DECK AND A SIMILAR 28 KILOWATT UNIT FOR THE MAIN DECK. A 15 KILOWATT UNIT SERVES THE WHEELHOUSE AND AFTER-DECKHOUSE, PLUS AN ADDITIONAL 5.6 KILOWATT WHICH WAS NECESSARY BECAUSE OF THE HIGH RATE OF SHORT-TERM OCCUPANCY AND THE MARINE ENVIRONMENT. ALL THE AIR CONDITIONED ZONES ARE CONTROLLED INDIVIDUALLY. A. H. S.
