Air conditioning with a combination of radiant cooling, displacement ventilation, and desiccant cooling.

Author(s) : BUSWEILER U.

Summary

For the modernization of hotel conference rooms, a cooled ceiling was installed. Supply air enters the rooms through outlets in the walls near the floor. Air distribution in the rooms is based on displacement ventilation. 100% outdoor air is used as supply air, which is then cooled and dehumidified through desiccant cooling. The thermal energy to operate this system comes from a cogeneration unit. The principle of the concept and the results obtained in the first year of operation are presented.
