Air cycle air conditioning and the use of ammonia in supermarket refrigeration systems.

Author(s) : HESSE U.

Summary

Air cycle cooling seems a viable option as applied to high speed trains, although cost impact and reliability are uncertain. Ammonia systems are more expensive, less safe, and less energy efficient than current vapour compression as applied to supermarkets. This technology does not have a household refrigerator/freezer application.
