Summary
An air-cycle refrigerating machine without a secondary refrigerant, operating with a reverse Joule-Brayton cycle, is presented. An algebraic expression for the COP is given, the isentropic efficiency of the compressor and expansion valve are its main parameters. A recently developed prototype of an air-cycle, air-conditioning/refrigerating machine is described: its concept, material and performance. Necessary improvements are indicated. J.L.
