Alternatives to the use of refrigerating compressors for the separation and liquefaction of air.
Alternatives à l'utilisation des groupes frigorifiques à compression pour la séparation et la liquéfaction des gaz de l'air.
Author(s) : SAULNIER B.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The author details the reasons which put pressure on designers to try and do without auxiliary refrigeration equipment and explains why progress in the use of expansion turbines together with an increase in the size of liquefiers, gives competitive solutions today which were not hitherto apparent. He proposes using these methods for gas separation (water and CO2) avoiding refrigeration compressors in favour of evaporation systems (partial or total) or absorption units. J.R.
