Ammonia heat pumps are key to global decarbonisation.

Number: 0012

Author(s) : HOFFMANN K., HOFFMANN R.

Summary

To avoid overloading the electricity grid in the future it is important when decarbonising our heating system by electrifying 50% of the global energy demand (for heating) with an electricity grid which currently are providing 20% of the global energy demand to apply the highest efficiency possible. With the latest development of high temperature ammonia heat pumps the industry has proven that there is significant operation benefit of using natural refrigerant ammonia compared to alternative technology.
