Summary
An ecological optimization criterion is proposed for the best mode of operation of a class of Carnot refrigerators with thermal resistance and heat leakage. It consists in maximizing a function representing the best compromise between the rate of refrigeration and the loss of refrigeration rate. The ecological optimal performance of this class of refrigerators is investigated and the significance of the ecological optimization criterion is discussed. The results obtained are of importance to the optimal design and the selection of optimal operating conditions of a refrigerator.
