Equivalent Carnot cycles analysis of adsorptive cooling experiments.
Author(s) : POYELLE F., GUILLEMINOT J. J., MEUNIER F.
Summary
An experimental set up composed of 2 adsorbers has been built and tested. Thermodynamic analysis based on first law is sufficient to discuss the performance in terms of COP. However, the COP of such units is much less than the Carnot COP, therefore, a second law analysis is required in order to show that most of the entropy production is due to the external heat source and heat sink. Average entropic temperatures are defined and enable plotting of the experimental results in a Q/T, T diagram. It can be seen, in these diagrams, how entropy production reduces the performance of the cycle.
