An efficient rotary absorption/recompression heat pump for air-conditioning.

Summary

The novel heat pump is based on the integration of a rotary absorption system with a vapour-recompression unit. The heat pump employs process intensification by centrifugal force. The heat pump uses water as the refrigerant. The system has been analysed and some performance calculations are included. A computer model of the system has been developed and this has been used to optimise the components of the heat pump. A prototype machine has been designed and is currently under construction at the University of Nottingham.
