An evaluation of various enhanced tubes for shell-side condensation of refrigerant.

Summary

Heat transfer data are presented for condensation of CFC-113 on a selection of commercially available copper integral fin tubes. The best of the complex, three-dimensional, profiled finned tubes gave performances similar to the best of the geometrically simpler, trapezoidal, cross-section finned tubes, with enhancement ratios of approximately 8.2, compared to a plain tube at the same vapour-side temperature difference. The data for the trapezoidal cross-section finned tubes was in good agreement with a recent model.
