Summary

The paper presents an experimental investigation of a novel H2O/LiBr absorption refrigerator that employs a steam ejector to recover the heat otherwise wasted in conventional H2O/LiBr systems to enhance the concentration process. In the system, the ejector entrains the vapour evolved from the concentration process and compresses so that it can be re-used for the concentration process. Compared with double-effect H2O/LiBr system, this refrigerator is simple and low cost. In using high temperature heat sources, this refrigerator may out perform double-effect H2O/LiBr systems. The authors' experimental results show that a COP of 1.013 is achievable when 200 °C steam is used to drive the refrigerator.
