An experimental study of the heat-transfer performance of a finned-tube evaporator under low temperature frosting conditions.

Author(s) : CHEN R. Q., ZHU K., TIAN J. Y., et al.

Summary

Frosting of evaporator is one of the main problems in refrigeration system, frosting, especially, deteriorates heat transfer performance of evaporator. Based on the cryogenic wind tunnel, the experimental investigation of heat transfer characteristics of finned-tube evaporator has been conducted under the condition that temperature is below -10°C, humidity is from 63 to 80.5% RH and wind velocity is from 0.51 to 1.10 m/s in the paper, and this paper gives the variation curve of effects of fin pitches, humidity and wind velocity etc., on heat transfer coefficient, which is then analyzed.
