Summary
In order to obtain the best performance from an air cooler, it is necessary to obtain accurate fin efficiency under frosting conditions. Several frosted fin efficiency functions have been studied. Different researchers have developed different hypotheses. Based on linear and quadratic functions of the saturated air enthalpy, two algorithms are presented in the paper in order to determine the frosted fin efficiency when simultaneous heat and mass transfer occur.
