Summary

EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH WAS CARRIED OUT ON FINNED TUBES. THE EXP ERIMENTAL DEVICE IS COMPOSED OF AFINNED-TUBE BUNDLE, FITTED WITHIN AN AERODYNAMIC LOOP. IN THIS EXPERIMENTAL PLANT, THE CONTROL AND MAINTENANCE OF THE VALUE OF ALL THE MAIN FACTORS AFFECTING FROSTING, ARE CATERED FOR. ALL CALCULATIONS ARE CARRIED OUT WITH COMPUTER PROGRAMMES. FOR THE FIRST TIME, THE DISTRIBUTION OF FROST ON A BUNDLE IS ESTABLISHED. CONCURRENTLY WITH EXPERIMENTS, SEVERAL COMPUTER PROGRAMMES WERE DEVELOPED, MAKING IT POSSIBLE TO MODEL HEAT AND MASS EXCHANGES ON THE FINNED-TUBE BUNDLES. DEVIATION BETWEEN THE RESULTS OBTAINED EXPERIMENTALLY AND BY MODELLING DOES NOT EXCEED 25 %.
