AN INTEGRATED HEAT PUMP STORAGE SYSTEM FOR YEAR ROUND OFF-PEAK ELECTRICAL ENERGY USE.

Author(s) : RUSSELL L. D.

Summary

PRESENTS AN INTEGRATED SYSTEM CONCEPT WHICH WAS EVALUATED TO DETERMINE ITS POTENTIAL FOR SHIFTING ELECTRICAL ENERGY USE BY HEAT PUMPS FROM PEAK TO OFF-PEAK FOR BOTH HEATING AND COOLING. HOT WATER IS ALSO PROVIDED BY OFF-PEAK ELECTRICAL ENERGY USE WITH THE SYSTEM ALL YEAR ROUND. THE SYSTEM HAS HEAT STORAGE DURING THE HEATING SEASON AND COOL STORAGE DURING THE COOLING SEASON. RESULTS INDICATE SUCH A SYSTEM IS FEASIBLE AND CAN BE EMPLOYED TO SHIFT ELECTRICAL ENERGY FROM PEAK TO OFF-PEAK PERIODS. CONCLUDES THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR BOTH RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL APPLICATION.
