An on board refrigeration system for the ARCHITECT(TM) medical instrument.
Author(s) : WANG J. X., RUMBAUGH W., MOORE L., et al.
Summary
An on board refrigeration storage system for the ARCHITECT TM medical instrument (Blood Analyzer for immunology testing) is presented. The refrigeration system is required to maintain long term on board stability for the reagents. The concurrent product development process was used in the development of this refrigeration system. The primary constraints were functionality, space limitation, airflow velocity restriction, cost, service, manufacturability, and reliability. The system is fully described as well as the control strategy. R134a is used as a refrigerant. The performance tests were conducted on the instrument level under the environmental controlled conditions. The results show that all the requirements are met.
