Summary
Due to the mutual effects between the units with different pulsation phase and the additive effectin the gathering pipeline, the analysis and control on the gas pulsation was much more complicated in the multi-unit compressor system. Two different methods were proposed to analyze the gas pulsation in the multi-unit compressor system, which were named as the successive phase difference method (SPDM) and the pulsation amplitude superposition method (PASM). The comparison between two methods showed that there was little difference in the analysis results, but the pulsation amplitude superposition method (PASM) was more recommended for the multi-unit compressor system due to the calculation speed. Meanwhile, the simulation results also indicated that the mutual effect of the multi-unit compressors led to the increase of the gas pulsation both in the gathering pipeline and the sub-pipeline. However, the increase was non-linear when increased the amount of the running compressors. The increase rates of the gas pulsation were also different in the gathering pipeline and the sub-pipeline, and different compressors operation combinations would lead to a different mutual-pulsation in the gathering pipeline. The general attenuation devices for a single compressor, such as the Helmholtz resonator, the volume-choke-volume filter and the orifice plate, were useful to some degree to attenuate the gas pulsation in the gathering pipeline. Furthermore, two more effective methods were proposed, including increasing the diameter of the gathering pipeline and employing a quarter-wave side branch stub. The simulation results showed that the gas pulsation attenuation rate of the gathering pipeline could reach nearly 90% by using this two methods.
