Analysis of heat loads on insulated transport vehicles and bodies.

Author(s) : MEYER J. P.

Summary

The heat load of a refrigerated body is determined similarly to the heat loads of buildings. This results in a cooling load which is also used for the sizing of a refrigeration system. It is the purpose of the paper to show that this approach can be improved and that more accurate results are possible. A modified approach is presented which predicts the cooling load more accurately and which predicts the average product temperatures in the body as function of time during transport. The modified approach is based on results obtained from a wide range of measurements, experiments and computational fluid dynamics analyses.
