Summary

The purpose of this study is to propose a method of modelling flows and heat transfer in a refrigerated semi-trailer loaded with pallets. The digital resolution of the movement and energy equations is carried out in a tridimensional configuration using the finite-volume method on the Phoenics software programme. The modelling was done in steady-state operation. The results of the simulations corroborate those of experiments done elsewhere, and confirm the value of the ceiling air-distribution devices in reducing air-temperature variations within the load.
