Summary

PERFORMANCE OF AN OIL-INJECTED SCREW COMPRESSOR IS CALCULATED FOR SEVERAL SAMPLE ROTORS. IT IS SHOWN THAT THE INDICATED TORQUE INCREASES WITH AN INCREASE INTHE BLOW HOLE AREA, THE LOBE TIP CLEARANCE AND THE END CLEARANCE, AND DECREASES WITH AN INCREASE IN THE INTERLOBE CLEARANCE. IT IS ALSO SHOWN THAT A SMALLER WRAP ANGLE OF ROTORS CAUSES AN INCREASE IN DISCHARGE LOSS AND LEAKAGE LOSS, LOWERING THE ADIABATIC EFFICIENCY. AMONG SEVERAL COMBINATIONS OF TOOTH NUMBERS OF THE MALE AND FEMALE ROTORS, THE COMBINATION OF 5 TO 6 IS SHOWN TO GIVE THE HIGHEST VOLUMETRIC AND ADIABATIC EFFICIENCIES. (BULL.
