Summary

THE PAPER PRESENTS THE STUDIES ON ENERGY SAVING OF ALL-SEASON-TYPE HEAT PUMPS BY THE CAPACITY MODULATION OF THE SCROLL-TYPE COMPRESSOR. THE ANNUAL ENERGY SAVING EFFECT OF THIS PROTOTYPICAL HEAT PUMP WITH CAPACITY-MODULATED SCROLL COMPRESSOR IS COMPARED TO CONVENTIONAL HEAT PUMPS WITH CONSTANT-CAPACITY RECIPROCATING COMPRESSORS UNDER THE TYPICAL CLIMATIC CONDITIONS IN JAPAN. THE RESULT SHOWS THAT THIS PROTOTYPICAL HEAT PUMP HAS AN ANNUAL PERFORMANCE FACTOR 30% HIGHER THAN CONVENTIONAL UNITS.
