Summary
Foods, unlike durable goods, are usually perishable products and heterogeneous mixtures. It is not easy to create mathematical models for the physical and chemical properties of foods to predict their behaviour during processing. Safety aspects and a relatively very short shelf life need to be taken into account. Therefore, food packaging is quite different from the packaging of durable products.
