Summary

The indoor climate of a recently renovated Dutch museum falls short of the criteria stipulated in the specifications and of guidelines for collection conservation, despite the presence of an HVAC system. The results reveal that the problems are primarily a result of malfunctioning of the HVAC system. The humidification capacity also appears to have been underestimated. Furthermore, the ventilation principle applied in the museum is inappropriate for creating stable, homogenous interior air conditions.
