Application of an open absorption heat pump to energy conservation in a public bath facility.

Summary

An open absorption heat pump has been installed in a public bath facility in northern Sweden. A comparison is made with a conventional system without heat recovery in operation in the same facility. Measurements were performed on both systems in operation over a period of almost a year. The annual energy savings achieved for the open absorption system were about 200 MWh, or around 30%. The open absorption system works well in this application and the technical availability appears to be around 90%.
