Summary
The shortfalls of traditional heat and cold sources for mariculture (seawater breeding) are pointed out. This paper demonstrates that it is reasonable to use a heat pump to heat and cool sea water for mariculture. One of the unpollutive and economical ways the heat pump should be largely used for is practical engineering of mariculture in China.
