Approximate methods for estimation of the effectiveness of the interstage liquid injection and the optimal intermediate pressure.

Author(s) : MARKOSKI M.

Summary

Two cases of the refrigerant two-stage compression are considered. The first one is the interstage liquid injection. The mean value of the saturated vapor's specific heat may be used as an approximate criterion for the energetic effectiveness of this method. The second one is the two-stage compression with external intercooling. Based on the energy savings, the simple approximate formula for the estimation of the optimal intermediate pressure is derived.
