THE FIRST OF WHAT IS CALLED A NEW GENERATION OF STOP VALVES, STILL UNDER DEVELOPMENT, ARE PRESENTED. THEIR PARTICULAR CONSTRUCTION, FUNCTIONS, AND OPERATION ARE DESCRIBED. SOME FUTURE DEVELOPMENT PLANS ARE DISCUSSED, INCLUDING THOSE FOR AN OSCILLATING BUTTERFLY VALVE. UNLIKE CONVENTIONAL BUTTERFLY VALVES, WHICH ARE MEANT FOR A PARTICULAR REFRIGERANT, THIS NEW VALVE WOULD BE UNIVERSAL. M. C.
