Summary

The effectiveness of different plastic films for the preservation of asparagus was tested in near-industry conditions: macroperforated film, commercial films of different permeability, special films, etc. Different quality parameters (firmness, texture, weight loss, sanitary condition, sensory analysis, etc.) were observed during storage at 8 deg C. The consequences of the permeability of these films on the asparagus' quality are discussed in relation to the levels of O2 and CO2 inside the packages.
