Aspects of the cryobiology of the intertidal harpacticoid copepod Tigriopus brevicornis (O. F. Mueller).

Type of article: Article
Summary
The present study demonstrates how the supercooling ability of T. brevicornis is closely linked to its osmoconforming physiology and that it avoids lethal internal freezing by concentrating its body fluids. These features may be of considerable survival potential in small rock pools susceptible to freezing in winter.
