Aspirating smoke detectors in cold store and freezer environment.

Summary
Fire in a cold store or freezer is normally a catastrophic event with significant impact for suppliers, operators and customers. ASD systems provide proactive early warning detection in low temperature environments by actively sampling air from the protected area via multiple sampling holes in a pipe network. The air sample is transported to a highly sensitive, externally located smoke detector for accurate analysis. The system typically incorporates multiple, staged alarm thresholds. The alarm thresholds are configurable and can be programmed to levels ranging from thousands of times more sensitive than a conventional detector, to much less sensitive. ASD systems can provide very early warning of an event, prompting investigation at the earliest smouldering stage of a fire while it can still easily be addressed.
