Assessment of physiological vigour of potato cultivars.

Vieillissement physiologique des plants de pommes de terre : comportement des variétés.

Author(s) : REUST W., HEBEISEN T.

Type of article: Article

Summary

As part of investigation of new varieties, the authors determine their dormancy and incubation periods. These periods, expressed as sums of cumulated temperatures, vary from 2000 to 3400 degree-days for dormancy and from 1900 to 3700 degree-days for incubation, depending on the variety. Comparative field tests on aged and degermed cultivars and on optimally-stored cultivars provide information on the varieties' sensitivity to ageing.
