Aussie LNG players target NE Asia in expansion bid.

Type of article: Article

Summary

Australia is increasing exports of LNG to SE Asia although spot cargoes have been recently sold to Spain following supply problems in Algeria. Other areas targetted such as South Korea, Taiwan, Belgium and Italy are also prospective customers but the main contract market is Japan. China, India and Thailand are potential customers by the turn of the century and this could mean an expansion of production facilities at existing units and also the development of new areas following the discovery of gas deposits off West Australia. Some of the major gas producing companies are reviewed. G.R.S.
