Summary

In current automotive engines, only 30 to 40% of all fuel energy is converted to mechanical energy to drive the vehicle or power accessories like the air conditioning system. The rest is discharged in the exhaust and cooling systems. Minimization of fuel consumption and emissions becomes more and more an issue, while the comfort level of passengers should be ensured. Simply eliminating air conditioning is no longer an option. So, waste heat driven techniques like ab- and adsorption offer an interesting alternative.
