Type of article: Article

Summary

Moving closer to commissioning: from April 2007, at the European Laboratory for Particle Physics (CERN), proton and heavy ion beams will circulate in the new Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at a speed approaching that of light. Fast particles will be injected into the system after going through a series of preaccelerators, including the SPS.
