Summary

The Academic Hospital in Utrecht has one of the largest refrigeration centres in any of the Dutch hospitals. Five robust centrifugal machines, one absorption machine and one piston compressor machine are installed in a large hall. The total refrigeration capacity is 13 megawatts. For the maintenance of the condensers of the refrigeration machine, traditional water treatment is used, with chemical cleaning done once per year. Until recently, this was thought to be the only method available. But now an automatic brush cleaning system has come onto the market. The hospital has been trying this system out.
