Summary
Describes an investigation using the PHOENICS numerical flow simulation program to calculate the air flow distribution, air quality and thermal comfort in an operating theatre. Supplies and illustrates diagrammatically the air flow and air distribution results for five different cases to discover the optimum airflow pattern. Concludes that the inlet velocity profile with the highest supply air velocity in the centre of the hood gives the best results.
