Carrying alternating current through superconducting cables.
Le transport de courant alternatif par câbles supraconducteurs.
Author(s) : ANSART A.
Type of article: Article
Summary
Superconduction could perhaps be used to carry alternating current in order to reduce losses. But this won't be happening soon, given the need for expensive cryogenic infrastructures and the resulting maintenance needs. Current research around the world should not start producing results for 10 or 20 years.
