Type of article: Article
Summary
The phase-out of CFC, HCFC and HFC refrigerants, combined with the special features of air-conditioning systems make it worthwhile to investigate the attractiveness of air cycle technology. Several air cycle concepts are investigated. Current and new developments on rotating equipment and heat exchangers indicate that energy-efficient, reliable and compact air cycles can be realised in the near future.
