Summary

The temperature inside the internal combustion engine locomotive driver-cabin is very high in hot summer. Drivers can easily feel fatigue and aprosexia at torrid working environment. The current locomotive driver-cabin air-conditioning system cannot meet the needs of operating condition and environmental protection. The paper presents an adsorption air-conditioning system, which employs the zeolite-water as working pairs and is powered by the waste heat from exhaust gas of internal combustion engine. This new type of system consists of an adsorber and a regenerator. Experiments of prototype machine showed that this system has a lot of unique advantages relevant to traditional air-conditioning system. It is feasible and practical to apply this system for locomotive driver-cabin space cooling. Some experimental results of prototype machine are present. The characteristics of the system are discussed as well.
