Summary

Superheat can be a very good indicator of how much refrigerant is in the evaporator coil of an air conditioner or heat pump in the cooling mode. In this installment, the author explains that the operating conditions of the evaporator coil are related to the refrigerant charge of an air conditioner. The author presents metering devices and processes, for superheat measurement, and then describes how to adjust the refrigerant charge, so that the right superheat can be obtained.
