THE PRINCIPLE OF THE THERMAL EFFICIENCY OF A CHEMICAL HEAT PUMP USING ADSORPTION HEAT OF WATER VAPOUR ON THE ADSORBENT, EG ZEOLITE, SILICAGEL AND ACTIVATED ALUMINA, ETC, ARE DISCUSSED. THE ROLE OF HEAT STORAGE AND THE UPGRADING OFTHE SYSTEM ARE ALSO INVESTIGATED. SEVERAL APPLICATIONS ARE EXEMPLIFIED, PARTICULARLY THE PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE BENCH SCALED AIR CONDITIONING APPARATUS USING THE ZEOLITE-WATER SYSTEM.
