Type of article: Article

Summary

WHILE AUSTRALIA PRODUCES ONLY ABOUT 2% OF THE WORLD'S AEROSOL VOLUME, THAT COUNTRY HAS VOLUNTARILY AGREED TO REDUCE AEROSOL PRODUCTION BUT REPORTS IN THE ARTICLE PURPORT THAT THERE ARE STILL UNCERTAINTIES IN THE OZONE DEPLETION THEORY AND THAT THE CAUSE-AND-EFFECT RELATIONSHIP STILL REMAINS TO BE ESTABLISHED. STATEMENTS BY INTERNATIONAL AND NATIONAL BODIES ILLUSTRATE WIDE DIVERGENCIES OF SCIENTIFIC OPINION EMERGING FROM RESEARCH PROGRAMMES. IN SHORT, MORE SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE IS NEEDED TO FULLY PROVE THE OZONE DEPLETION THEORY.
