Summary
Hydrogen is high on the list of major market drivers for US and worldwide industrial gases in 2004. For both near-term and long-term growth, the industrial gas industry has been paying a lot of attention to this key industrial product. Clean fuel regulations are driving refinery hydrogen growth on a global scale, making the short-term prospects for the industry's largest hydrogen market, petroleum refining, a solid bet. And continued claims that the climate is "heading south", both in terms of getting warmer and more polluted, are keeping everyone interested in developing the technology, equipment and infrastructure needed to create a hydrogen economy. In this article, the authors examine the issues behind the demands in hydrogen markets today.
