Summary

The system planned for ICE 3 has been undergoing tests in an ICE 1 carriage since 1995. It includes a closed cycle in which air is compressed in two stages and expanded in a single stage, along with an outside heat exchanger. The pressure-shock-protection system is made up of a fast-closing, electropneumatically-controlled blocking valve and volumetric-derivation fans that turn on simultaneously to ensure passenger comfort.
