Summary
Process and TEWI analyses formed the basis to develop an air cycle air conditioning system for the ICE3 high speed train. The system is based on a closed-loop overpressure process with two-stage compression and single-stage expansion. The successful test of this system has proven that instead of the vapour cycle air conditioning systems previously applied in trains, air cycle air conditioning systems can also be used effectively.
