Summary

Among the sorption processes, those based on solid-gas chemical reactions (of the chloride-ammonia gas type) have shown their advantages, particularly by their significant number of reagents reacting with a similar type of gas and by their imposed monovariant equilibrium condition. These systems, of simple or double effect, could be based on the exchange of one gas with two reagents of different nature, the choice of which depends on the required temperature level. Like the chiller-heater, these systems have shown a flexibility of functioning where 17 couples of chlorides could be used to react with ammonia gas and therefore could be able to produce simultaneously cold between -15 and 20 deg C, and heat at up to 80 deg C.
