Summary

THE TOTAL OR PARTIAL AUTOMATION OF STORAGE OPERATION CAN BE A PROGRESS ONLY IF HANDLING UNITS ARE ADJUSTED TO REQUIREMENTS: SELECTION OF THE TYPES OF PALLETS, STABILITY OF LOADS, IN COMPLIANCE WITH LOADING GAUGES. IN ADDITION, THE < AUTOMATED > COLD STORE SHOULD BE USED UNDER FULL RUNNING CONDITIONS, IN COMPLIANCE WITH OPTIMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS. UNDEREMPLOYMENT WOULD OVERBURDEN HEAVY INVESTMENT COSTS AND WOULD THEREFORE BE UNECONOMICAL. THE WAY OF MINIMISING THE OVERALL COST OF AUTOMATION AND OF OPTIMISING THE DIFFERENT PROCESSES IS REPORTED, RECALLING THAT THE COLD STORE IS A PLACE FOR PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION.
